On October 16, Huawei announced the new Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro at an event in Munich. The Mate 10 features the world’s first artificially intelligent chipset – Kirin 970, which may lead us into a new era of smartphones. With its AI-based enhancements and machine learning capabilities integrated throughout, the device will deliver the ultimate smartphone experience.
“Our phones have become such a fundamental part of our day to day lives so we wanted our new device to help make people’s lives easier by intuitively enabling them to perform at their ultimate. With its speed, reliability, and power, the HUAWEI Mate 10 Series offers just that, as well as a sleek design finish to cement its desirability,” said Richard Yu, CEO, Huawei Consumer Business Group.
Because the Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro are the first devices to be powered by the new Kirin 970 processor, users will be able to customize their mobile experience to best fit their needs. The specialized Neural Network Processing Unit (NPU), which is a designated processor for the AI functionality of the chip, and Huawei’s Hi AI mobile computing platform will make for a much better user experience and will also increase energy efficiency for AI-related tasks.
A key difference between the Mate 10 and the Pro is the screen size. With the all-new HUAWEI FullView Display with a borderless design, the Mate 10 will boast a 5.9-inch screen with a 16:9 display, while the Mate 10 Pro has a 6-inch screen featuring an 18:9 OLED display. Both devices have HDR10 capabilities for dynamic video viewing and vivid colors.
Huawei has also partnered with Leica to co-engineer the dual-lens camera for the HUAWEI Mate 10 Series. They combine 12-megapixel RGB + 20-megapixel monochrome sensors, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), dual lenses with a large aperture of f/1.6, AI-powered Bokeh Effect and AI-powered Digital Zoom, offering the capability of taking professional photographs to an everyday user.
The HUAWEI Mate 10 series pack 4000 mAh high-density batteries featuring a smart battery management system that understands user behavior and intelligently allocates resources to maximize battery life.
Huawei hasn’t yet revealed the exact price or release date of the Huawei Mate 10 for all regions yet, but the company set the European pricing at €699 ($824) for the Mate 10 and €799 ($942) for the Mate 10 Pro. For more information access Huawei website.
